There a four basic styles of fried eggs\u2014sunny side up, over easy, over medium and over well\u2014indicating the level of doneness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sunny side up:<\/strong> The egg is fried with the yolk up and is not flipped.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Over easy:<\/strong> The egg is flipped and the yolk is still runny.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Over medium:<\/strong> The egg is flipped and the yolk is only slightly runny.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Over well:<\/strong> The egg is flipped and the yolk is cooked hard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you master this technique at home, you\u2019ll never think of a fried egg the same way again.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class='section__wrap  section--sectionColor-white section--cardColor-white section--monochrome'   ><div class='section'>\n<div class='section__header'><h2 class='section__title'>Things You&#039;ll Need<\/h2><\/div>\n<div class='section__content'><div class='thingsYoullNeed'><ul class='thingsYoullNeed__list'><li>A good non-stick frying pan<\/li><li>Non-stick spatula<\/li><li>Cooking spray, butter or oil<\/li><li>Fresh eggs<\/li><li>Salt and pepper (optional)<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n    <\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class='section__wrap steps__wrap steps__wrap--simple   section--sectionColor-white section--cardColor-white section--monochrome'   ><div class='section'>\n<div class='section__header'><h2 class='section__title'>Instructions<\/h2><\/div>\n<div class='section__content'><div class='steps__simple steps__section'><ul class='steps__stepList'><li class='steps__step'><div class='step__label'>Step 1<\/div><div class='step__content eggsContent'><div>Coat a non-stick pan with cooking spray or butter. Heat pan over medium heat depending on your stove (you may need experiment the first few times to get the right temperature). No need to fuss with them either, they\u2019ll turn out better if they\u2019re left alone. For sunny side up eggs, simply slide the eggs onto a plate and season again if desired. You don\u2019t need to get it all the way under, but make sure it\u2019s under the yolk before you flip. Allow to cook for about another minute for over-easy, 2 minutes for over medium and so on. Flip once more and serve immediately.<\/p>\n<p>And there you have it. After Step 1, when the whites are slightly set, add a little water to the pan, cover, and cook until the whites are fully set. The result is a perfectly runny yolk with the egg whites becoming firmer than a traditional fried egg.
